Medical Engineering Project

The main focus of this one-year course is the Medical Engineering Project (MEP) which has been devised in collaboration with the Engineering and Medical Faculty.

As a Medical Engineer, you will need to communicate and work collaboratively with medical and engineering professionals. You will also need to use your engineering knowledge and skills to solve medical engineering problems.

The aim of the MEP is to increase your awareness of a variety of engineering issues in the various medical fields while improving oral and written communication skills at the same time.

The five major stages in the MEP are:

  1. Choose a topic to research.
  2. Conduct preliminary interviews with faculty members in order to understand the breadth of the medical engineering problem.
  3. Conduct major, in-depth small group interviews with faculty members in order to understand the problem in detail and if possible find solutions to the medical engineering problem.
  4. Give a poster presentation explaining the problem and your suggested solutions. For this you will need to follow up on the information from faculty members, conduct experiments, and write up your findings.
  5. Convert the poster into a professional report.
