Creating your Poster Presentation


Designing a good poster means making important and often difficult decisions about content, layout, graphics and language.

Below are two examples of posters from the class of 2004/2005.

Ask yourself these questions when writing and designing your poster.

Content

Do I have enough information?
Do I have too much information?
Is my information accurate?
Is my information of university standard?
Are my sources of information university standard?

Layout

Is the font big enough?
Are the colours used pleasing to the eye?
Do the headings stand out?
Is the text easy to read from a short distance?

Graphics

Do the graphics help the reader to understand the text?
Are the graphics labeled clearly?
Are the graphics and text clearly linked?

Language

Is the grammar accurate?
Is the content logically organized into paragraphs?
Have you defined terminology that your audience may not understand?
Have you referenced your sources of information?
