Introduction


Welcome to Problem Solving and Communication in Medical Engineering - ECEN 1511.


This course has been devised by the English Centre and the Medical Engineering team. It is an innovative course which allows you to develop your oral and written English communication skills through project work and interaction with professionals from the Medical and Engineering Faculties.

 

Course Objectives

To provide an intensive English environment within the Engineering syllabus which will engage you in problem solving activities, requiring you to communicate with both Engineering and Medical professionals.

To teach you how to apply word analysis skills in learning medical terminology and demonstrate knowledge of essential word components.

To introduce you to some of the English language expectations of the Medical Engineering world.

To enhance your English vocabulary and improve your written and spoken accuracy.

To teach appropriate format and language for writing Engineering reports, for taking minutes and for professional oral communication in English.

To provide you with experience working in groups through project work and thereby developing your group work skills.
